My Marlon&Brando

Ayca Damgaci encounters a wedding during her journey from Turkey to Iran to be with her beloved in My Marlon & Brando

Sunday, March 29 | 7:30 PM

Based on the true story of Hama Ali, a charismatic actor known for his performance as Iraq's version of Superman, who developed a passionate love affair on a film set with a fiery Turkish actress named Ayca Damgaci before returning to their respective homes. From his Kurdish village, Hama sends Ayca video love letters that capture the hellish violence engulfing Iraq, the goats and uncles populating his rural area, and his tender affection towards her. Angered by the indifference towards the war that surrounds her, Ayca decides to journey to Iraq to be reunited with her lover. Assisted by immigrant artists who live in the slums of Istanbul and the mothers of long distance truck drivers who she meets at various border towns, she journeys through breathtaking landscapes with strange encounters and terrifying experiences.

The film stars the real-life two lovers on whom the story is based.
