Made in Paris by individuals from 25 different countries and featuring the voice of Hiam Abbass, recently seen in Amreeka and The Visitor, Michael Ocelot's (Kirikou & the Sorceress) acclaimed animated feature film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. Painterly animated scenes lay out the story of two boys raised as brothers, who are then separated until as adults they mercilessly become rivals in the quest for the Fairy Djinn in a medieval Maghreb: blonde, blue-eyed, white skinned Azur and black-haired, brown-eyed, dark-skinned Asmar.

Ty Burr of the Boston Globe says, “…the movie plays like an illuminated picture-book version of a tale from The Arabian Nights…[my] 11-year-old daughter was wowed: an easy four stars from her and probably your guys, too.”

A story for young and old alike, the film's brightly animated scenes will leave you breathless!
